Hi all
I started carp fishing this year and love it. So much so I've started buying everything I need for over nighters and currently looking into venues for my first one. As you probably all know, it's a fooking minefield and my brain is on info overload. Can any of you suggest venues for a first time over nighter, preferably in the Essex area but can travel if there is something decent further afield. Was looking at Farlows but been told about equipment being lifted over night and that has seeded doubts as you can imagine. Long drive to lose gear!

I'm not from the area so can't recommend a venue, but thougjht I'd add that gear can go walkies from any venue, but just being aware of that, it reduces the chances of it being your kit that goes missing.

Rig wise keep it simple, get hold of a good quality bait and fish for one fish at time would be my advise
Find a tackle shop with a good reputation and have a chat with them, they should be able to put you right on most things mentioned
Venue, find somewhere with plenty of fish in it
Enjoy your fishing mate, nothing nicer than watching the sun rise, being at one one with nature and the sun setting on a beautiful lake, no better place to relax for me
Rig wise keep it simple, get hold of a good quality bait and fish for one fish at time would be my advise

You've got loads of options in Essexshire. You've got the CAPS waters, the CAA, both of which have loads of waters, some of which are really good, although can be busy. You've got the Rise you can book up. Berners Hall just to name a few, all of which are safe on your jax.
There's plenty of syndicate waters around if you want to go for that, just take your pick of which syndicate and get your name on the list.

CAA books are currently closed, no word as yet on what will happen next season, I believed that Colchester club are the same.
The Rise is a syndicate water, well unless things have changed very recently.
Last time I looked Berners Hall was solidly booked for some time ahead.
I believe that Kelvedon were still accepting members, as were Maldon Angling Society.
Dayticket wise you've got Chigborough near Heybridge, The Mill near Great Baddow and Crowsheath Fishery near Hanningfield res.

The tackle theft issue at Farlows is long gone I believe, some cracking fish in both lakes there.

Always remember, its the last 6ft that is the most important. You can have the best gear in the world but if your presentation and bait are not spot on, in the right place, it matters not

I have never fished Farlows even though its only 5 miles from my house !
( I have free life membership of a local top club)
but as I know 2 people that fish it I phoned them for you and they tell me its very safe well run with no problems at all

Farlows is fine fished there for many years. There was a few issues years back but no more.
