If you are happy to do it then as long as you are not affecting anyone else
Why care what any one else thinks
It's only cheating if you think it is or breaks the rules of the water
I don't think any angler can honestly say they haven't watched any underwater footage so are they cheating because they have watched it lol

Two of my mates used a cabled underwater camera on our local 850 acre park lake, probably a full ten years ago.
I recollect they saw a parade of our ‘easy, naive, us carp' swimming over their baits (sweet corn) without the slightest reaction.
For some reason we did not pursue the experiment!

Starting to fish from a boat this year so along with donking rod this is going to be a key bit of kit to check out the features on a 4egular basis. Not to leave in whilst fishing mind. But to make sure bottom is good and also check up on it each week

One of my regular fishing mates used to make underwater videos for various tackle companies.
We have tested various rigs/indication systems etc etc. The results were interesting.....and some of it has been published.
We have also set cameras on feeding spots and watched fish, but we haven't actually fished for them in front of a camera.
