I have been recommended on here that to use a deeper pro on spod reel a rod I should use 50llb braid the question is if anyone can tell me please do I put the braid straight through or just as a shock leader

Will you only use this rod with the deeper, or will it be leading about as well?

If you can have a rod that you only use for the deeper I would use mono with a braided shock leader. Much less chance of cracking off, which with the Deeper means much less chance of having to go for a swim.

Do you think even 50llb braid straight through will crack off tbh I have some 60llb braid to put on I would be a bit worried about leader knot coming undone what do you think might be using it with spomb

Are you going for out and out distance or not?

If yes then thinner braid with a leader is the way to go, if no and maybe your using a deeper etc then go for thicker stronger straight through braid.

No won't be using it at distance might put the 60llb on under spooled

The Deeper is only around 3oz so shouldn't be a problem on 50lb braid straight through. I just tie a new knot to the clip every trip I am going to use it.

Think about a wire trace as well, apparently pike love them

20lb spomb braid with a x5 turn water knot to 30lb armo kord shock leader with a loop to wire trace on deeper.
Not had any issues with as long as you keep the braid wet and tight on the reel spool.
