Just to give a heads up to anyone who has one of these boats, the new version removes, possibly overwrites your old folder where you save your spots as I've just found out. A year's worth of spots gone 🤬
Just a warning not to update if you don't want to lose any of your saved spots until there's a fix, I've also asked them to fix/create a proper folder tree instead of just having one folder for all venues which is just mental 👍

I don't know if you are on the Facebook group or not but it may be worth posting on there mate. I know the guy who runs it has good contacts in ND but does not work for them. They may at least be able to do teh folder tree solution as you have mentioned

My findings so far
The app isn't accessing map overlays when using internal location data unconnected to cellular network (isn't displaying a visual representation of where you are, only a black or white screen appears)
The only way to get the app to display map overlays is to connect to mobile cellular network - was always able to display map overlays without mobile cellular network before latest update.
The app has removed all of my saved spots, they're now gone.
The app will not save new spots. When trying to save a new spot name, if you enter '2nd point' for instance, it will not allow this, instead you can only type 'spot' or 'point', click save and it doesn't save regardless of what you type.
The way you save a spot (called *MARK* now) by holding down a finger on the screen is not accurate as in the last version. In the previous version you could hold your finger where the boat was on the map and could save it. In this latest version you can't do this.
The file tree where you save spots needs to be created whereby you can create as many different folders and associated spots as you like for the various different venues an angler fishes. Currently everything is put into one folder (when it worked) and can not differentiate between venues.

Maybe it's a good thing then that the IOS version hasn't yet been updated.
Going to wait before doing anything to something that works fine every time anyway just for a few ‘adjustments'

No more saving your spots to your device, oh no, that would be far too convenient, no, instead you have to use their servers just to do what you were previously able to without being on-line. What was their thinking?
I now have to buy a new device with a mobile data plan just to use their app so I can save spots, and a sonar at the same time like I was previously able to do, or hotspot to my phone but will lose the ability to use my Raymarine sonar...nice, well done ND you idiots.

CL also have glitches on their own stuff too so it's not all plain sailing if you pardon the pun 😂
I'm iOS and am running both old and new apps.
New app is being tested (by a few users) before launch.
Android was rushed out too quickly untested sadly

Can't roll back to the old versions unfortunately, so I'm up the swanny. The way it's working on Android - I'd assume it's going to be the same with IOS - you're now forced to use their servers just to save spots instead of on your device. The cynic in me says that they're planning a chargable web based service in addition to paying for the app, I can't see any reason as to why they've decided to stop you from saving spots on your device.
I have an alternative, that'll take me ripping out all the ND electronics and replacing it with an Arduino based system which would be in the ballpark of 80 quid and a few servos which I've got knocking around. The Carp Pilot app that's used in conjunction with Arduino based systems is night and day better than what ND have pumped out... waypoint setting, scan setting, you name it.
Ganna give Carplounge a call and see how things work with their system.
