Hi Chaps,

Has anyone got any genuine feed back on the Penn Rival reels....

I am looking at some reels to pair up with a 10ft set up....

After all the positive feedback on the Penn affinity's i would buy these but feel they are way over gunned for 10ft rods...... hence the reason at looking at the smaller Penn rival reels..

My rods will be 10ft 2.5tc rods used for fishing waters up to 4 acres in tight swims with overhanging trees, hence the need for the shorter rods.... Very max cast will be 80ish yards.......

I do have some mint diawa windcast 5500br reels which i could use, but again i feel these are a little to big...

Any advice will be greatly received and appreciated.

Yes i agree way to big for 10ft rods .Cant help you with the penn rivals but take a look at the okuma inc to pair with them, I have these on my 10ft rods and they are perfect.

I'd second having a look at okuma.
A lot of choice in the their range and I spent a lot of time looking but eventually went for the okuma longbow xt 655 reels for my 10 ft 2.5 lb rods.
Not convinced what people see in wooden handles but apart from that they seem surprisingly good reels for the money. Longbows also come with a 5 year warranty.

Saw the penn rivals today 7000 model , they are beautiful reels but they are too big for your rods in my opinion. Look really well made and oh so smooth.
