I want to give flouro a try this Winter and have been thinking about this stuff but seeing mixed reviews, plus they seem to have gone down the Shimano confusing labelling route 
Any up to date reviews anyone can give on it please?

It's the best. Sinks like a brick and behaves very well. Not springy like other fluro's

I had this on all my reels until a few months ago . After I lost a good fish. I wasn't fishing a swim that was particularly snaggy . But there were a couple willows where it was prudent to hit and hold if you didn't want the fish heading towards them. Once the fish was away from them I eased the pressure and let the drag do the work. Part way through the fight the fish had come off. Further inspection of the line it had snapped above the rig and was frayed along line. Similar to how you strip the costing back on braid and then push the costing back down. Never seen any line go like this before. And after reading other users opinions , felt the out of the fluoro had deteriorated. It was only 6 -7 months old and had only been used a handful times.
So I've now stripped off all my reels now and sold on 3 spools I had in the tackle. Up to that point I thought it wasn't bad. The 15lb cast reasonably well. But seeing the state of the line after losing that fish properly put me off it

I rated it for about 6 months, then it really deteriorated to the point I could snap it with my hands and knot strength was non existent.

Hmm, that doesn't sound great, surprising from Berkley, especially as the CM90 is so good. What alternatives (as well as X Line 
) can anyone recommend?

Had issues with the cf600 snapping like cotton so I binned it and went back to tiger line. Yes it is slightly more expensive but I've never had any issues with it and have had fish up to 46lb this year no issues at all.

Do you guys buy Fluoro by diameter and ignore the breaking strain, same as most do with mono or is it a different beast altogether?

Pretty much, the 20lb X-Line is 0.37, same as the mono I tend to use most. Tackle box tests are a good place to get an idea of how each line performs.

Tiger line
had several 50 plus French fish on it amazing abrasion resistance I was fishing a 38 acre lake in France and while playing a fish another rod roared off my mate had chosen this time to do a supermarket run ! I was praying for him to return
by the time I landed the fish and got to the other rod it had made it the 300 yards to an overhanging snag filled tree lined bank in the corner the line had gone over a branch in the water and I could actually feel it rubbing
I thought well Im up the creek without a paddle here when my mate ( they dont feed in the day) came back he decided to walk round with his landing net and chesties so a good 15 mins later I saw him it was difficult for him to find it eventually he found it and managed to break the branch and free the line I fully expected to find the hook in the branch but no suddenly the fish roared out into open water and eventually I netted a 48lb common
now the interesting thing was for around 4 ft it was like long thin cotton spaghetti looking shavings of line all hanging down in patches for about 4 ft and try as hard as I could it would not snap it ! I was gob smacked ! and completely sold on Tiger line
knots have never ever let me down but I only use the proven strongest knots for fluorocarbon lines
these are Palomar knot and Improved Clinch Knot or tucked blood knot as we call it

good luck with that hope you get on better with it than I did its probably the fastest sinking line there is though if your in a hurry

Did a bit of research so I did order the 17 not the 20

I used to use x line for years but mostly on my smaller setup, baby ballistas which I feel copes with the low stretch of fluoro better. Never had issues with it in 15lb

Well after praising cf600 in my last reply I've just had it let me down. Savage run which I hit. Then I thought the fish had Spat the hook but no. The cf600 had snapped 😡😡 will be taking it off when I get home.
