Just trying out a couple of ronnie rigs on my local commercial.
Got some with a size 6 hook and some with a size 8 (both curve shank)
Thinking as the carp are only upto 15lb max I would favour the size 8 hook.
Wanted to fish a 12mm pop up on them and bought some mainline cell ones in a 12mm.
Found out they arn't buoyant enough to raise either size hook off the deck.
Do I need cork dust pop ups or can anyone recommend a good 12mm that will do what I'm looking for?
Thanks

Just take the 12mm back and swap for 15mm, better still get your money back and never buy the ***** Mainline knock out again.

Proper job pop ups is what you want
They will hold up a size 8 forever

Northern specials (NS1+) will pop anything up, for several days and sessions.

I use mainline pop ups for my ronnie rigs and stickies never had a issue and I use size 4 hooks as well and glug my baits. Always found them plenty buoyant enough but I do use 15mm

Any pop up from Ryan @ UB Baits, or as said PJPU. But I'd use the size 6 hook, even with a 12mm pop up and smaller fish. looks stupid but effective.
Defo get a refund on them mainline ones!!

DNA baits pop ups are decent. I use the 12s on size 4 hooks with ronnies and even need abit of putty to weigh em down

Got this sorted thanks. Watched a Kev Hewitt vid. 12mm NS1 to a size 6 hook works a treat.
The mainline 12mm cell will probably come in handy next year for surface fishing.
Thanks for the advice guys

I make my own popups - extra buoyancy is achieved by moulding over a cork ball. Way better than those horrible little balls in tubs that everyone seems to use
