I have a Shimano Medium Longcast Baitrunner XTR-A LC in Ci4. It has suddenly developed a problem where the reel handle is very slightly clipping the bail arm on the retrieve. I've not knowingly damaged the reel in any way. I bought a new bail arm from Shimano Felindre but that didn't cure anything.
I'm just about to take the reel to the Tackle Box but before I do does anybody know what my problem might be

Just gently bend the bail arm towards the spool
Had the same issue on my Emblem Spod reel.

If you have another one, try swapping handles to check if it's bent.

Its most likely the bail arm as bigclanger said, they are easily bent especially in sleeves and holdalls. Shimanos are all solid wire bailarms so easily bent back without fear of snapping

Think that's it , had a daiwa do that it was after I dropped the rod

As I said below I bought a new bail arm from Shimano Felindre and it didn't solve the problem.

Hmm, either the bail arm or the handle is not prescribing the correct arc. I'd check for any loosness in the handle, or could you have lost a washer under the handle? Failing that check the winding cup is tight and for any signs of a fracture. On my old Shimano's there is a large flat nut on the shaft under the spool, check this is tight. Failing this, take to the Tackle box!

Not the exact answer your looking for but wind the reel to the point where the original bail arm is just touching then do as sean says in post 2 and just bend it in slightly to give clearance, i have had to do this on my spod reel a couple of times

Well I took it to the Tackle Box and I think they just bent the bail arm LOL. All sorted.
