Hi All,
Bought a set of 12 ft 3.25 S lite back in April this year from Johnson Ross, used them on 3 24 hour sessions and today after getting them out the rod bag to give a clean from a weedy session I noticed the tips on both rods have like creases / damage on them, identical on both tips one worse than the other. Really concerning and have no idea what's caused it or if it's normal ? Contacted free spirit but not heard back yet.

I purchased a set of S Lites a couple of years back when they were 1st released. After a couple of sessions I noticed some similar flaws on one of the tip section blanks. I highlighted it to the dealer and the tip section in question was immediately replaced FOC. Not had any issues since and the rods are fantastic. I would say it's a manufacturing process fault rather than carbon degradation caused by exposure. I'm sure Free spirit will sort you out.

You'll be lucky to get a reply from free spirit as they only deal direct with shops. I would imagine Johnson Ross would get a reply for you almost instantly. Failing that go on Facebook free spirit carp gear second hand and post on there, Steve from walkers of trowel is very active on the page and always offers helpful advice.

To be honest I would tend to agree. It's only recently that free spirit have updated thier website. Previously it been the same sine about 2002. I would be talking to the dealer which I guess in your case is JR. As they were the point of sale they are the 1st port of call. This
Is pretty much the route I took. I dealt with the dealer that sold me the rods direct rather than free spirit themselves.
It's clear to see from your images that it's a manufacturing fault in the way the carbon has been layed out ( virtually identical to how one of my tips were i may even have an image somewhere ) these things happen in manufacturing but it is a shame they seem to get missed by quality control. I'm sure the JR will rectify the issue just keep on thier case.

So I sent the pictures off to Johnson ross and they got back to me pretty immediately and are sending FedEx to collect my top half's and sending out a new set next week. Really great customer service on their behalf 👍🏼

You really need to send full rods as not every tip section will fit a butt section .

It's a free for all with FS rods I think mate. Like those zig extensions that you can buy off the shelf which appeared not long after Harrison sacked off the 3 piece ballista extension

Looks like the shrink wrap was wound too tight around the carbon cloth on the mandrel leaving indentations rather than a ridge of resin as you normally see on unground blanks !!

Jeez they put alot of whipping on them eyes ! What did they look like when you got them ? Major manufacturing fault i would get my money back .
