I'm fishing from one of the lodges in a couple of weeks and wondered if anyone had previously stayed there and had any advice?

Which lodge are you staying in? I fish Beatties lake on a regular basis (a week at a time) usually from the dam wall (Triangle Swim), my best advice is to speak to Wayne (bailiff) who is an experienced carp angler and very helpful.

Wayne ?.. I remember Wayne from my time on Salmonhutch,pre syndicate and Creedy,...possibly..
Back in de day ..!!...I forgot his second name,might be schilling,or Shilling...

Wayne's surname is Grinney. The Silver Birch lodge offers far more water to fish than the Cherry Lodge, only seen 1 guy to do well from Cherry though he had about 30 carp and not really an experienced angler! Most people use a baitboat from the Silver Birch swim and the spots to fish seem obvious i.e. under overhanging trees to the right and at the end of the island on the left. I only fished that swim once when it was known as the Summerhouse swim, sadly I picked the week when the carp started spawning and the work on the lodges was being carried out. I am sure you will have an enjoyable week and it is a superbly operated venue!! Let me know how you get on! I haven't mentioned rigs or baits as I do my own thing, but the new house boilies and Sticky Baits Krill seem to get the best results.

Correct,and I remember now...see,back in the mists of time,before the coming of the orders..lol
Me and lanson Dave,launceston to those who don't know this heard about a lovely fish in Salmonhutch, nr Uton, it was a linear about 24 ,25 pounds,nice carp in those times,anyway Wayne was after this fish but couldn't get it,but me n Lanson massive member ,Dave had a few out ,with the linear falling to Dave,..upset a few Devonians that did...lol
