I'm thinking of getting a Amazon Fire Stick, either Lite or standard.
I want to plug it into my av amp which is dolby atmos enabled 7:1.
FS Lite says dolby support (passthrough only)
FS says dolby support.
What's the difference between passthrough and not?
I've asked Richard sounds who like me are baffled as in their opinion, passthrough means just that, passing the signal to the device they're plugged into for it to sort it out, be it tv or av amp.
If anyone can confirm it would be much appreciated.
Edit, I think my minds been made up anyway after speaking to a different branch of Richer Sounds.
The FS Lite and FS have different levels of Dolby support, the Lite doesn't do atmos so the passthrough bit is irrelevant!
Edit 2, and now Google says lite does support atmos....fgs!

I have Amazon Fire Stick. As I know it supports dolby atmos, dolby digital and more, while FS Lite only supports HDMI audio passthrough for things like dolby atmos. So if you have a fancy surround sound system that can eventually help to notice a difference immersive sound in home theater setup, you'd probably better go for FS. Additionally, you need to remember that you also need the format that is supported by UHD Bluray discs and streaming services. I usually use Netflix, but premium subscription is needed. I'm also considering about jailbroking my FS as it offers more streaming services with dolby atmos content https://www.firesticktricks.com/best-apps-for-jailbroken-firestick.html . As I know Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ also have dolby atmos content.
