Do quite a lot of printing out at home but fed up of the ones I'm having not lasting long at all. Usually have the epson printers but finding that it may be better to change manufacturer. Would require copy, scan but not necessarily fax but doesn't really matter if anyone does know of a good one.

Any advice much appreciated please?.

Get yourself an HP Envy wifi printer, makes life easier being able to print whilst you're working in a different part of the home.
They do this ink deal too, they monitor your ink levels on line and send you new when required.

I bought a Canon ip7200 printer and buy the cartridges from ebay dirt cheap, never had a problem (touch wood), on that basis I bought my son a Canon TS5000 all in one.
Both machines use individual cartridges 3 colours and 2 blacks total 5 cartridges
I would stay clear of the machines that use 1 black and another 3 colour cartridge
The most important thing for me is the cost of the cartridges, as I say I buy cheap ones and not had a problem (touch wood again)

I thought the Canon thing was good, only replace the colour that's gone, but they only sell the colours in a pack all together.
All the crap the schools wanted printed off during the lockdown was costing a fortune too.

What size and your budget might help get more suggestions tazi

Depends on what you're printing but generally as I get through the cartridges I rarely have a lot of odd cartridges left over. It did happen once but I found an ebay seller who you could buy exactly the cartridges you want to make up sets again.

I think what did it was the school stuff, a lot of it had background colours that would rinse one colour more than others.
I mainly use it for printing pics, the cheap inks I tried I found the colours slightly off, but I'll have to try them again if the schools shut again, I must have done over £100 in ink during the last shutdown.

Personally I'd go for another Canon with the 5 separate inks, my sons TS5000 bought in February was £110
For me it would just be a case of googling until I found one.

I take your point about printing photos or high quality pictures. I just do general printing so I wouldn't notice.
If I wanted high quality photos I'd probably use a company
And if you're using too much of one colour for schoolwork I'd look out for something like this LINK

Just a word of caution re HP printers, there's presently a world wide shortage of cartridges, the factory is in Wuhan..say no more! My Mrs works for a very large stationary suppliers here hence knowing that.

I can't recommend enrolling into the HP insta Ink programme like we did for the mother in laws HP Envy. It does give you cheaper ink, if you use it regularly however now the grand kids have grown up she doesn't use it that much. I unrolled her from the programme, got confirmation, but now the printer won't let us use 3rd party inks!
To top it all HP don't know why...which isn't a lot of help.

I always liked HP devices. But! I purchased HP Smart Tank 510 two years ago. I first didn't use it a lot. Then, when I started to print more, I noticed line gaps. I first tried to fix it, however, HP diagnostics told it was the cartridge problem. My warranty almost expired, but I had time to hand it over under warranty. They gave me the new one. There was the same problem. So they changed me the printer for three times, and the warranty expired. Now the problem remains. I don't know if it's a problem of a model, but I'm a little bit disappointed
