Any daiwa, free spirit, harrison rod etc in 2lb to 2.5lb test curve will be fine and 4000 size reel from daiwa or shimano will be perfect. Its up to you how much you want to pay but you dont need to spend a fortune on a floater rod set up.

I got a daiwa Powermesh floater rod for about £70 last year and it's a great rod. I did use it with a daiwa gs 3000 but now got a fox eos 10000 with it and it's absolutely fine

Same set up as me, apart from I use the 4012 size TDM.

How about a 1 3/4 barbel rod? Then you can also use it down the river if it takes your fancy.
I use an old 11ft 2lb north western, but would happily use a barbel rod instead.

Plus 1 on this, especially the light reel.
I would also add perhaps consider a 10 ft rod unless you strongly prefer 12 ft s.
My favourite floater setup is a 10 ft tfg compact commercial 2.5 lb (very soft through action ) with a little okuma match reel. Total combined weight 420grams
I had a touch of nostalgia one afternoon and I did try one of my old Diawa 12 ft 1.75 lb rods and a Shakespeare sigma 60fs reel but I found that pairing very heavy, awkward and cumbersome in comparison.
Changed back mid session and the 10 ft setup was better in every way apart from the smoothness of the sigma.
Plus 1 on this, especially the light reel.

I was on the look out for a decent floater set up earlier this year and plumped for a korum triple tip rod. Three tips means it's got more uses than a dedicated floater rod. I paired it with a daiwa ss2600 and 12lb gardner floater mono.
