Hi all, firstly apologies if there is already a thread on this.. Although I couldn't find one.

I've recently made some cork ball pop ups and have froze them once boiled.

I've got several different “pop up packs” in the freezer whereby I have around 5 baits in cling film, just ready to take out the freezer before a session.

Is there a way I can make the cork balls shelf life friendly without the need of keep taking them in and out the freezer? I know a lot of people just use a small amount of glug to keep them hydrated, but without the use of preservative in my base mix would the boilies still go off?

Any help would be great

Thanks

No, they won't go off in glug without preservatives

If you use a Glycerine based glug. Glycerine is a totally natural preservative and works a treat. Just add it to the pot a little at a time and let it soak in. It will also harden the baits as well.

I soaked my corkball popups in a mix of hydros and squid brand fish sauce. Soaking then drying and then soaking again. Did them in January and they are still fine. I make them from the same basemix/paste that I make my harder hookbaits.

I thought I would need to freeze them but I think the liquids have preserved them without the use of glycerine.

Fine rock salt. Fill the pot up, works very well as a natural preservative.

I'd be worried about drying out the paste around the corkball with just salt. Salt in the liquids would be better IMO.

Done it for years without issue. Providing they have been dried out properly after boiling they will be fine.
Are you sure?
