Hi all i have a scratch on one of my rods .above the reel . any suggestions how to get it out my rods are longbows its the part that quite shiney (if that makes sense)

One of the reasons I went for the perdurable finish on my rods is for the reason you write of.
In times past I have used T cut ,and toothpaste to gingerly rub out marks on the blank,mind you if it's deep,the scratch,it might prove hard to remove,
As an aside,when I pack my rods up,I have 6 padded rectangular protectors I put behind the reel seat,and large eyes,so no damage in transit can happen..

Cotswold rods used to do a rod polishing kit. Ive got one in the garage somewhere. I would personally just leave them as they will just get scratched again so its never ending.
The best thing I discovered for my rods when they look a bit dishevelled, abused and misused and the varnish going white, sesame oil. Just put a little bit on a bit of kitchen roll and wipe your rods down, they look brand new and even the white disappears and it lasts for about a year. And on top of that, it makes your rods waterproof and water just beads off. And as for fluff and dust sticking to the rods, it does not happen, but it might if you over do it.
I've been doing it for years now without any issues or even finding rats etc wanting to lick or chew them.
In fact, I use sesame oil or sunflower oil for lubricating banksticks, landing net handles and squeaking handles on reels. I always feel its better than using a mineral oil or WD 40 for when you handle your tackle and you could end up tainting your bait.

That's interesting advice Zack..
I remember someone on a small club I belonged,to have a lovely set of armalites made for him..they were lush ,9 eyes,burgundy whipping,old skool,super cool...until ...he wiped them down with WD40...
I ,only today have been cleaning all my egg shapers using turtle wax,those old 300 boomerang check reels,look smart
