Apparently a lake I fish responds well to surface fishing with dog biscuits. I have never fished this way before so can anybody give me some advice on what specific dog biscuits work well and what rig to use. Presumably its just a hair rig.

Also what works well for prebait using this tactic?

Cheers

You can't really pre bait with dog biscuits mate, just find cheap mixer biscuits from supermarket. I coat mine in oil. I use a catapult and get a pouch out or two to get them going and then when they are competing for the baits and “pac manning” I cast over the top of where the fish are and reel in slowly till my hookbaits is amongst the freebies. Then just sit and wait 🤞🏽

Just on a hair rig? Isn't it quite hard to cast out without a led

I use the fox bolt bubbles in size medium, can get them a good old way. Make a hair rig and tie the hair as short as you can so the bait is sitting right next to the hook. If you have some pop ups in a similar colour to your dog biscuits use that as a hook bait and just cut it down to a similar shape.

Best mixers I've found are either tescos, or pedigree. Asdas are useless if I remember correctly, some float, some sink and haven't tried other supermarkets so I tend to just stick with the pedigrees as they're consistent and easy to find.
3-6ft hooklink off a controller float, you can either use a trimmed down pop up on a hair or like how I do it, palomar knot to hook then slice a groove into a biscuit or pop up and superglue it to the shank

Jollys are dirt cheap for floating bait
