If I'm using a fluoro leader would you still use tubing, mainly for the purpose of protecting the flanks of the fish and not for concealment or sinking purposes as I'm happy fluoro already does that.

Is your tubing and importantly your lead, if it doesn't come off the clip, going to pass over your leader knot in the event of a crack off or other line breakage?

Of youre worried your fluro leader will lift scales, try a thicker fluro.
