I'm looking on booking a week in France for next year I'd like to go in the better weather months but really dont want my trip ruined by spawning

What month would you recommend best ?

Best wk in france for me over the yrs is defo 1st wk of May. Fish are at top weights, weathers usually lovely but not too hot and it's usually a little too early for spawning. Now I know there are exceptions to the rule but I've always found that wk in france perfect!!

The further south you go I possibly wouldn't gamble on May, if they've had some decent warmer weather I've been to a few lakes when they've started mid May.

I can only comment on my exoeriences. I used to go the 2nd week of April every year for around 10 years, 8 years fine, lovely day weather cold ish at nights. We did get caught out once with snow and once with fish spawning. There's nothing worse than loking forward to a trip and for that to happen, wasted money! Personally I'd avoid May and first 2 weeks of June but it'll be water and weather dependent, by the time you know the weather it's too late so why gamble.

1st week in October was the other week we used to go, beautiful time of the year. Morn and evening the sun on the Oaks as they're just turning red, coldish nights, risk of frost but if its sunny during the day easily getting to 70 deg, great time of year
