I expect many of you are the same as me in that it was your dad that taught you to fish and instilled that passion for it.
From beachcasting on Walney and at Greenodd to float fishing Ulverston canal to chasing elusive pike on Windermere, my dad was the best angler I knew.
Here's to dad's everywhere today and every day

Mine was different in that he never fished but me and my brother showed an interest and when we badgered him a bit, he took us. I'm pretty sure we didn't catch anything, mainly because all he knew about fishing was watching some people cast out sand eel sections underneath a big chubber float on a pier and catch some garfish. That didn't matter because we enjoyed going. Luckily I joined a local juniors match club not long after that helped to get the basics right. (That club is sadly gone, like a lot of them.) So cheers Dad, you did your bit and helped me on my way to my life long hobby. RIP.

My dad took me fishing starting when I was 7 coarse fishing with very old gear. I got the bug and was mad keen to learn, it was only a few years later I was teaching him. I joined a junior match club and eventually got the carp bug. Dad's gone now, but I remember the last time he took me fishing. The two of us on a Honda 90 with the tackle strapped to it, took us three hours to get to Chertsey bridge on the Thames.Good Memories.
