I am new to carp fishing and I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on certain pop ups to use and what rig would be most effective with them and also when is the best time to use them ? And also what is the difference between a pop up and a wafter?

There's a post on UB baits, there's a variation of pop ups some are cork balls which are more bouyant which are good for chod rigs. A wafter is a mix between a pop up and a bottom bait so it's meant to take the weight of the hook away to act more like a freebie on the bottom

Yeah, get yourself a UB pop up, they're all good so take your pick. Rig wise, you can make it as simple or as complicated as you like, from a standard hair rig on stripped back braid with a shot to sink, to a Ronnie rig or hinge stiff rig. The choice is endless, dependant on the water, the bottom, how easy the water is, etc.
BTW, on UB Baits website, wafters are called bobbers just to confuse things. Wafters (or bobbers) are mostly barrel shaped, but there are rounds ones also.

It's OK asking questions, that's what a forum is for!!
Ultra Fish pop ups are good from UB Baits, but have a look at the recent thread on UB Baits, that'll give you a better idea.
Use pop ups over a bottom with debris, leaves, small amounts of weed, etc, as it will sit on top of this. But they also work on clear bottoms!!
