Hi guys had anyone ever replaced there 40m butt rings with 50m and if so who did it (rod repairs) .

First of all, don't do it.. second, you need to remove all the guides and move them along 1 position

Why on earth would you want to do that ? As stated you would need to remove all guides apart from tip , your second guide would then be the 40 etc , Absolutely no improvement with 50ml .

Jeff, Jon quick question on this 1. This has been done with the Fox X5's going straight from a 50 to a 30 k guide with apparently no issues. Any ideas as to the reasons why this was done?

Because like I've said before mate the k series is available as high stand off, so you can downsize guide diameter without affecting the path of the line. It's not the diameter that needs to line up in series, it's the height. And Fuji have made k series in various heights and sizes so it can reduced to the blank quicker for low frame tip guides. Carp rods actually use k series all wrong, the bigger ones just channel line down to KT running guides on the tip section in theory.
If it's a 50mm k series first guide that's a mistake, because a 40 is about the same height as a standard 50. So you're adding weight and inviting extra torque for no reason.

I have 2 Free spirit carp tamer rods and I need another.
I got these as new very cheap .
I've contacted free spirit and they only can get hold of 40m and mine are 50m.
Tarty I know but it would be a odd set.
Hope this explains.
Did realise you would have to move the other rings this is why I was seeking advice.

Roger Hurst does a lot of the work for Free Spirit. He replaced a damaged butt ring for me last week and is rebuilding another set for me. Great work. He's near Grantham.
