Anyone got any tips on how to keep boilies in good condition in the Freezer? Got some out yesterday and they had freezer burn and was lots of ice in the bags, they had been in there a while to be honest. Anything I can do going forward to stop it? Thanks

I put mine in a couple of cardboard boxes. Seems to help a bit. I also try to not grab the top bag, but to use the one from the bottom. So I'm sort of rotating my stock.

freezer burn isnt an issue.
Its just when the freezing process forces water molecules out during crystallization.
Baits soon rehydrate when you chuck them in the lake

I've seen a considerable lack of ice and freezer burn since vacuum packing

good point mate, the reduction of O2 (zero in vac packing) stops the freezer burn process happening

My take on it - and I don't claim to be an expert - is chuck it in the lake and don't worry about it.

Do you completely vacuum the bags? I did several years ago and my baits came out like football rather than round.
I have tried wrapping bagged bait in news paper which does help however I can say I'm overly bothered.

Been doing it for the last 14 years, always fully vacuum the bags, baits do go out of shape but I don't stick baits so never been bothered. If you put a bit of liquid in before sealing the baits pretty much come back to their original shape as the air gets back in.

Never bothered me about freezer burn

Adding salt to the bags also helps prevent freezer burn, I'm not sure what O2 has to do with freezer burn ?
Are you referring to moisture that's contained within the air Joss ?

Personally dont worry about it. Seems to soften the bait up which I like. And I find the freezing process. Ice Crystal's forming inside and expanding a bait I would of thought would only help in releasing the attractors contained inside.
