Planning on fishing Central Park New York USA this autumn, anyone else ever fished it or anywhere else as iconic in the US?

Hi, IF you use Faceache contact Simon Crowe. Hes fished it several times in a few areas. NYC isnt known for its plethora of Angling shops so take a few spare parts. I had a look around this one a few yrs ago..V near to my hotel .Geared up mainly for trout and game fishing.. Capitol Fishing Tackle Co 132 St NY ( just round the corner from Macys dept store)

Lived there for 2 years until 2018 and fished the main boating lake in Central Park. I repeatedly looked at the smaller pond with the Gapstow Bridge but it's stuffed with smaller fish that will decimate anything you put in there. There are some big Koi in there, but you won't be able to keep a bait in long enough.
On the main lake, I found surface fished bread in the margins seemed the most productive method. Had lots of fish averaging between 3 and 6lbs and a handful of bigger ones up to mid doubles. I tried a boilie approach for several months but seemed to get more attention from the little catfish!
Try under the trees to the left of Bethesda Terrace (the fountain near the Loeb Restaurant) or off the point opposite the fountain. You will find them everywhere around the lake but I found some areas were extremely busy with people in rowing boats so I stuck to fishing spots they couldn't get close to like under trees and bushes. And don't forget to watch out for the Terrapins - they also like bread!
