Hi
I normally used mainline dissolvas as hook bait and use any type of boilie over the top, this has worked for me for a while but I was speaking to one of my mates and he said I could do with choosing a brand I want and keep with them instead of changing it and buying anything, is this right?
Also he said if I use mainline then I'm best to keep to mainline?

Confused with this as I normally pickup anything similar colour wise
Opinions?
Thanks

I don't really agree with your mate, I use sticky krill for most my bait but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another brands hook baits or other bait, order what your happy with and just buy what you like you don't have to stick to one brand, what I do find that works for me is using krill hook baits with krill freebies but I also do well with northern specials over the top aswell (cc Moore)

I agree with Rich, don't really agree with what your mate said. For freebies, I'd be looking at baits from a reputable bait company. For hookbaits, I either use the same bait but in a different format (wafter, fluro pop up or hard hooker) or hookbaits from a specialist hookbait company.

Prior to this year, I used Atlantic Heat freebies and hookbaits. This year, I've changed over to Poachers freebies and matching Poachers hookbaits and also UB hookbaits.

Think it depends on what your strategy is with the water. You may be doing a campaign on a water dominated by fishmeals and decide to go with a nut based bait to be different. Or you may fancy giving the fish a selection of bait at the same time, say one nut based and one fishmeal to keep 'em guessing. Or you may just be visiting a water once and use a high impact instant bait. So I don't think it's as black and white as just saying stick to one bait manufacturer.

Yeah I was thinking the same, I was going to try cc Moore bait but he was trying to convince me I cant use that as I use mainline dissolvas so best to keep to mainline, made no sense to me either.
Thanks lads

Have a look at DNA, they always get good reviews and do a good priced 20kg bundle, depends what you can afford, most company's do a mix of run over orders.

Personal opinion is the exact opposite. People mix 10 different particals and pellets and pulses into a spod mix, and then use one type and one size of boilie.
