I'm looking to do a bit of crucian carp fishing. I've never fished for them. I've only just got the chance to have go for them. I don't no a lot about fishing for them. I was thinking of float fishing for them ? Have any of you guys gone fishing for them ? And how you gone about catching them ? Any info would be good thanks

They are very delicate feeders, so float fishing with very light kit is the way to go, pole floats ,very light lines etc.

I agree, though my best of just over 2lb came on a size 4 with a 15mm bottom bait 🙄

What sort of line 3lb ? Size 14 hook and so on ? Then normal maggots sweetcorn and pellets?

Was doing exactly this on Sunday,..
Using a 13 ft float rod
Centrepin,5lb maxima straight through,chance of tinca tinca
Equivalent, 1bb,pole float,set dead depth
Light feeding ,hemp ,corn,groats from Haiths
Torn prawn as hook bait or mussels,cockles from lidl..
What i found was key is a carefully used,lowered bait dropper..
I fished proper close in,two crucian over 2lb,4lb tinca,and a big 1.5lb roach and skimmers,..found mornings best..
Funnily enough all the bigger crucian have not been caught on subtle methods

Mine is just under 4lb and it came on double 22s on a size 4. True crucian too. Bloody shame I didn't have it on light kit

Crazy isn't it. Me and the old man started a little perching a couple of years back. Floats, worms, prawns etc. He then went and had a 2.9 on a size 4 with a grain of pink corn.

Yeah what annoyed me most is it came in the middle of the night and like an utter knob I put it back with only a mat shot as Tbh at the time I thought it was a hybrid, only a while later when someone else caught it that it was confirmed as the real thing. Gutted as lb for lb that's probably my best specimen fish
