Just wondered people's thoughts on social media and how it's used by day ticket lakes , personally I came off Facebook but while on it I followed multiple posts by day ticket lake showing “recent” captures! After a while I actually noticed the same picture come up a couple of times ..after all the pictures are never time stamped . Got me thinking what a great way to drum up business if your lake isn't doing to well..

Not a new thing. Many years ago a mate caught a large chub off the Royalty Fisheries and sent it to one of the weekly comics. As it was caught in the summer and a lot of good fish had been banked, it never made it into the magazine. Imagine his surprise when it finally appeared near Christmas during a freeze up with him in his T Shirt!

😂 brilliant , just found it interesting and wondered if anyone else has thoughts on it, some people think Facebook and social media posts are 100% true...
After the money I used to spend on day tickets (before I joined a club) chasing the chance of getting a decent fish because Facebook or Instagram showed a certain lake was fishing well supposedly!!

I've just experienced the flip side of this. Not quite social media, but...
WhatsApp messaged the bailiff from a very quiet (as in ssshhhhh) day ticket that I've fished a fair bit to check on opening after lockdown.
'No point mate, there's no fish in it. Try 'xxxxx' instead, it's just down the road'
Was talking to a mate about it on Friday and he said that was odd as they'd only had a big stock input in February.
Emailed the owner and he said they were opening next weekend with a very healthy stock. The bailiff in question no longer has any link with the venue and is spreading false rumours....

Nothing new under the sun..years ago,during Richworth baits dominant era a well known writer angler used to catch a fish ,take a pic,take off his T shirt,turn fish around,boom..100 doubles a year no problem .!!
But fake angling news,pales into irrelevant information,when daily we are told lies,half truths,and down right fearmongering and psychological coercion control by the British media and government, using the media ..

There was a day ticket water in Derbyshire who used to post every week that fish over 20lb had come out but when I went to the water the bailiff told me there was 1 20 in the lake. But the posts must have worked as the lake was rammed every weekend

Funny how all day ticket waters seem to have ‘Fish to 28” in them. Maybe it was 28 when stocked, but is now a ropey lizard like 19.....

"Dreamers" that post captures of known fish at boastful weights, is one of my pet hates.
I've seen it several times on a local Day Ticket water i fish, and do quite well on.
Im not sure if they suffer from inflated egos or dodgy scales.
But they're only kidding themselves.
