Would I need a shock leader for spodding a maximum of 60yards, or can I just use stronger braid main line

Would say no. I use 50lb straight through with a medium spod. Probably spod at 80yds no issues. Find it much easier.

No just fish straight through.. that's my main range and never had a problem

Straight threw shouldn't be a problem at all mate in 50lb
