Anyone recommend a reel for a fox warrior 2.75 marker rod it's only for close / medium range work

I am not what you would call an expert in this, so don't take all of what I say for good info! But IMO do you really need a specialised reel for the sort of work your doing? With markering and feeling the substrate what tells you about what the bottom is like will be the rod and the line, generally marker rods are stiff so you can feel the small clicks of gravel for example, and lines developed for marker work are low stretch, normally braids, and the low-stretch helps to feel the ‘donk' as the lead hits the bottom, a lot talked about by many anglers you will see on YouTube and such. So in a matter of fact the reel is quite unimportant, it's only a matter of if it can cast to the spot you are exploring. You could use a reel you already have that matches the rod okay and has a line that has a decent breaking strain 12-15 mono (if that's the line on the reel and you don't want to buy braid) for casting 2.5 to 3.5 oz leads. A lead with a big surface on the bottom will be able to transmit more feel back to you and the rod. But if you want braid and that better feel then get a 20lb braid, and back it with some old mono. And if the spool is a 300m one then a neat trick is to put 150m of braid on one spool, and then you can put the other 150 on another and use it as a spod braid. Use the spod setup with a leader though (40-50lb, armacord in 50 is a good option) with a specialist spod rod and then maybe a spod reel as the rigours of spodding can put a lot of strain on your normal reels. If you do decide to use braid which is a good idea then make sure you put at least several turns of mono onto the spool before you load with braid else the braid can rotate independently to the spool.

if you're using the rod for a marker set up (I assume you are?) then any old big pit with braided mainline will do the job.
As someone else has suggested an old emblem gold is bulletproof and shouldn't set you back more than £35-40 second hand, however I do find a baitrunner function or QD can useful when using a marker set up when popping the float up - however definitely not essential.
Mainline I use cheap Chinese spectra braid in 30lb for all spodding and marker work - its bulletproof. I add a 45lb shockleader (quicksilver, or armakord or something similar) for both situations too. Not just for strength in the cast but it helps to stop the twisting below the float which can be frustrating with marker set ups and fine braids. Make sure you don't over-fill the spool - with braid you want to intentionally underfill it. A good 3-5mm lip left on the spool is about right.

any big pit will be fine. an emblem as said below will work.
main thing to get right is the braid.
i use a wychwood dispatch for both spod and marker work. does the job fine and they're only 40-50 quid preloaded with braid.

Thanks very much for the replies will try drop on a cheap baitrunner with it been mainly close in work and load it up with braid but do you think l can get away without any leader with it just for close in work probably upto 50ish yards or will it cause problems with the float tangling and not popping up

Fox make pre stretched mono tapered leaders, You get 3 on a spool for £10 ive only just replaced my first one after 5 years. It's ideal for a marker rod as it does not twist during the cast and prevent the marker from popping up.
