Hi All

At 52 years old he was something of a mainstay in my life that was always there.
Was he a carp fisherman that snuck off for the odd pub chuck? I'm not sure we'll ever know.
We know he fished though, maybe a gudgeon champion, 12 fish on on one maggot and all that
Anyway for me he'll be sorely missed

Like someone one the media said, he was one of a kind which is no longer with us now RIP

Devoted his life to the queen, great grandfather, grandfather, father and husband i am sure they will miss him. What's not to like about him, are we going to try and slate him now following his death ffs?

The royal family, one of the things to be proud about and sets us apart from all the other showers of **** across the globe

Made me reflect on my grandfather's that were both born in 1919, 2 years before Phil but of that generation.

One was a petty officer on destroyers in the Mediterranean, right upto and including the Anzio landing. Later on the arctic Russian convoys.
The other was a joined the army in 1937, he was in the Khyber/Afganistan area when war broke out. Went onto be in tanks with the 7th Armoured Div 8th Army (Desert Rats) through N Africa and Italy. Being captured at Monti Cassino and being a POW in Austria.


Both had a great send off with unlimited friends and family.

It's one of the worst consequences of Covid-19 the funeral condition's.

My great uncle was in the desert rats and ended up a POW too, wasn't from Southampton was he lol
