Picked a couple of these up a couple of these the other day. Really impressed with them. Go out nice and straight, open almost every time. Maybe 1 in 10 didnt, where as i was finding the spombs more like 1 in 4. The x spods just need opening and stretching out a bit every now and then. Much easier to load and the magnet system makes closing a lot easier, with nothing for bait to get stuck in. Holds pretty much the same amount of bait as a midi spomb. Anyone had any issues with them, or an experience with the larger model?

Used the x spod competition a few times. Works well. The only problem I have had is it occasionally closing on the retrieve and filling with water making it difficult to wind back in.
Used the larger version quite a bit and love it.
No problems with false opening in flight or even if you touch the ground (or bivvy) behind you when casting.
Tried this against the dot spomb and normal spomb and found it runs it of steam at c100yds for me. The other 2 I can manage c130 on a good day.
Impressed with both versions and my first choice up to 100yds.

I recently got round to buying one of these medium spider spods, have used the original one since they came out but have also been using the midi spomb as they are a bit quieter on impact than the larger spider. This new one is good although it could do with being slightly larger, my main issue is as above, retrieve is poor. The flaps close too easily and it begins to dive a bit like the fox one does, really annoying. I spent 20 mins making some adjustments to it by removing part of the white moulded shaft that stops the sprung 'bung', by removing that, the bung opens the flaps further and reduces the amount it closes on the retrieve. Still not 100% perfect but much better.. Also, I'm going to add a spomb float to it to stop the vanes diving, hoping after that it will be quick to use. As The Heff says, flies very straight, probably one of the best in that regard.
I think someone didn't do their product testing as well as they should have done for a £16 spod but no surprise there I guess..

About the same as a midi spomb, bigger than the mini spomb..

A midi is slightly too big for a 2.75lb rod as it overloads it whereas a small is perfect and save taking the spod rod lol
