I am planning on going fishing in France back end of the year for the first time as a bit of a social with some friends (as long as the world doesn't end in the meantime). The question is do people go for a specific insurance policy for angling trips abroad ? There is also the minefield of COVID insurance as well.

Its difficult to plan for anything right now and I've just heard on the news that from next week, there's a 5 grand fine coming in for anyone partaking in "non critical" travel.

I would be very surprised if you could get any favourable terms on travel insurance right now covering cancellation etc, it might be worth having a look on moneysupermarket but I can't imagine any insurance would be willing to cover covid.

Just re the below I have posted on another thread regarding tackle insurance but our cover at Anglers First Insurance does cover your equipment abroad if you go away on a trip/holiday. It is not travel insurance though so wouldn't cover you for anything Covid related. If your driving and you have fully comprehensive insurance on your car ?
HIDDEN
in the small print it often says your cover to drive abroad !
BUT IT DROPS ,TO THE MINIMUM COVER NEEDED FOR THAT country unless you paid and upgrade fee

This happened to some one late for the ferry pulled out and wrote his car off ONLY TO FIND HE WASNT fully comprehensive but third party only !!so no car no payout
