Hi looking at getting a set of 3 rods my price range is around £750. Looking more for playing ability rather than a out and out casting tool. I've been looking at Harrison cerberas, free sprit s lites, sportex invictus and wolf x series has anyone got any experience with any of these rods or any other rod recommendations at that price range? Any suggestions/recommendations/ info would be really helpful?

You will get lots of different opinions due to what people own and like.I am a harrison fan and only buy them.I would look for a rod that in a few years will still be available or still be able to get replacement sections if any issues arise.I would not go near a wolf rod or one made by a tackle company like Fox,Nash and so on due to the fact in 2 years or so they will be onto a different model leading to no chance of spares.For me it is Harrison all the way

I know you have a budget, but is also worth considering wether its worth saving another £300, which puts you into custom build territory, if that something you want to consider. You can get a set of harrison aviators or similar built to your own spec and taste for that sort of money. I know its a lot if money, but i have a set of torrix that are 15 years old that are still going strong now. A set of rods, although a big investment, can last you for years

Never used them myself other than their spod rod, have a look at the Shimano range. Can get a lot of rod for the prices they're selling some in the range for. The TX2 could be the rod you're looking for. Half the money you've got to spend too and can chuck a lead to 200yds if you need that sort of distance 👍

Thanks for the replies. The other rod in that price range I really like the look of is the shimano tx9a Cork editions . I must admit I did have a look at a set of custom build aviator plus which be my first choice out of any rods on the market but that would mean waiting a couple of months. Has any one got any experiences with the shimano tx9as?

I would wait and buy the harrison,you could even pay a deposit and order custom builds as it could take a few months to get them built anyway.Kev Clayton is the one,excellent work and a really top bloke,my 10fts and my aviators are made by him

Free Spirit S-Lites are incredible rods, I had the 12 foot S-Ives, used them on a big pit (50+acres) to cast distances and on a small pit (about 4 acres) fishing underarm casting distance and they was brilliant in both situation, lovely to play fish on as well.

The cerberas are great, I'd take the 3.25 over the torrix
But, if you're looking at aviators that keenly, then wait for them. You'll only end up buying them in a year anyway and taking a hit on what you buy now

if your willing to go the 2nd hand route i bought 3 aviator pluses like new for 600 just before xmas

I really like the s lites i've heard a few people having problems with the reel seats twisting and eyes twisting which puts me off. Have either have you had any problems with yours?
