Investigation triggers: less is more? (5 posts / 1,875 views)

Hi guys,

I have been thinking about making my own hookbaits for a while now and last month I made some. I have read, talked and listened loads about baits and hookbaits.

Things I have taken away thatvare useful in baits:
- N-Butyric acid
- Clove oil
- Citric acid
- Betaine anhydrous

I am between 2 thoughts:
- do I throw them all in a hookbait and be done with it (each hookbaits leaking of investigative triggers on different levels)
- or will such a hook bait be a repellent because of it screaming those 4 different things all at once?

To me this is a hard decision, as certain things work synerhetic and enhance each other (maybe n- butryric acid and citric acid for instance) but sometimes things also work against each other.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I would appreciate your view.

Hi

You can use all of those together in hookbaits. I made some recently with n buytric, citric and essential oils. As with most ingredients, it's about levels and quantities. Research some of Frank Warwick's special hookbait recipes. He's often includes 3 out of 4 of the ingredients you've listed plus any others, often in high doses. He's caught plenty! 👍🏻👍🏻

I hope that helps. 😀

Just thought I would put this out there.

For a combination flavour, take a look at John Bakers new oil based spices. Christ almighty they are potent.
Received them in the post today and all I can say is, I cannot wait to have a proper play.

There is the Hot Masala Oil, which I am really excited about. It's a blend of essential oils and oleoresins.
Fenugreek, Black Pepper, Clove just to name a few.

Then there is the Cajun Spice Oil, which is again a blend of oils and resins.
Cayenne Chilli Oil, Garlic, JalapeƱo plus others. This one is a real powerful one. Put a drop on your tongue and the heat immediately hits you.

Give them a look!

He's still not added them yet he told me. So he dropped me a PayPal invoice instead and I bought them that way.

However, I believe he will be adding them to his site soon.
Are you sure?
