Hi I recently purchased some second hand alarms off ebay and although I'm pleased with them the fronts look like the rubber has worn away probably from bobbins or the like.
My question is are the body's easy to replace as they sdi spares for £6.99 which would be a great way to make them look new again.
I've spoken to Gardner and they have said that they are fiddly and most people have them serviced and changed by Gardner for £24.99.
This kind of defeats me buying them second hand so has anybody any experience in Changing these who can give any advice.

Hi there,
I had a set some years back and changed the external body on a couple as they were cracked, it was very easy, just a bit fiddly if you have fat fingers and not dexterous.

Think I might buy the cover and have a go sure it can't be that technical.
Is there any welding involved or does the led pop out with the main board?
I'm hoping this is the case or I'll be sending it off to Gardner.

It's dead easy...just make sure the gasket is sitting flat in the groove and watch you don't over tighten the screws as they can strip the threads.

I'm sure there used to be a video on the tube that tells you how to do this
And from memory it looked very easy to do

Hi,
No soldering everything just lifts out, as stated below check gasket is straight and flat, I smeared the tiniest amount of Vaseline onto the gasket.
