I've just put some Fox surface line onto my Daiwa SS2600. It's 0.28 and 250m. I thought it would be enough to reach the lip but it's not. Just wondering can I salvage the line as I'm thinking I'll probably need to put some backing line on first?

You're all good if you have a spare spool. Tie your backing onto the end of your surface line and wind on enough to fill up. Then wind the whole lot onto the spare spool leaving the surface line on the top and the spool perfectly full.

Cheers, what knot would you tie to the other line?

I'll have to buy a spare spool.

I would do a back to back grinner, probably only 3 turns to keep the size down as it should hopefully never be exposed at 250m.

If you don't have another spool and can be arsed you could just hand wind it off onto the empty spool the surface line came on.

£20 plus for a spare spool ....or if you haven't binned the spool the line came on and have a nut and bolt to use as an arbour and a drill......

Fill the 2600 to level with backing on top of the surface line.
Wind the backing by hand back onto a plastic pop bottle.
Put the nut/bolt through the empty Fox spool and slowly refill the spool using the drill.
Then just re-spool
I use back to back half bloodknots for attaching mono to backing.

Sorted it fellas, wound it off with my hand and tied a back to back grinner knot to make up the spool. Cheers for the advice.

I know you've sorted it but the easiest way would have been to use distance sticks but space them much further apart than normal. 250yds might only be 20/25 wraps depending how far you've spaced your sticks.
