Hi has anyone got any info on Barham pits near Ipswich as i believe this is now run as a syndicate i used to fish it years ago when Gaps had it.I would like a syndicate close to home which is properly run and no noddies and safe to fish .

It was around £600 a year.
The lakes have been separated from the A and B pit that it ended up as with Breakaway and GAPS.
There was a recent break-in at the Equipment store last week, all the tools and machinery stolen, but the fishery itself is fenced.
The website is Barham Lakes link., but there is no price on it.

No Mate.
Too expensive for me, and it just doesn't look right. Like you I used to belong to GAPS years ago, and remember it as A and B pit.
I've only seen it from the outside when I've walked along the river.

Yes it was A & B pit when i used to fish it and the breakaway pit has that gone ?Been looking at the pictures on their web site looks totally different from when i used to fish there but it looks well run now i have asked for some info about membership will have to see thanks again

I am a member and have found it to be an incredibly well run place with a positive group of lads who have nothing but encouragement and kind words to say about one another's captures. Always work going on to maintain and improve things. Lots of members volunteering their free time as they believe in the future of the place being special. Obviously the extent of the work means it needs to re-establish it's self.
I was offered a ticket off of a recommendation from an existing member and after meeting for a walk and talk with the bailiff team. I believe membership is full at the moment so I think October could be your next opportunity. Having said that I am not sure if they will offer spaces to recommendations from existing members first or open it up.
But to sum it up - a fantastic place with a good stock of new fish as well as a few originals still knocking about. A passionate owner and bailiff team and a friendly group of members. Best place to fish in the area by a mile.

I was actually contacted by the baillif after commenting on a post on fbook to not believe everything you see on social media after rumours of fish kills and dodgy fish etc. Seemed a really nice chap who was passionate about the lakes he told me they aren't taking on any new members for now while they re-establish the fishery, because atm from what he said the only people with tickets are people who helped out when they first started up. Even for £600 i will get a ticket when I can(he will ring me when they offer tickets) as the price of day tickets now a day session per week works out the same most places. He said exactly as the other chap says that they want members who are there for the camaraderie and the pleasure of fishing a well run complex not a load of negative idiots who get grumpy cos someone else caught their target fish

Sure the complex can flourish under the correct ownership.
