Looking at going to lake bled for my 40th next year, is it best to book through an agent or book an apartment and fishing separately? Anyone on here been? Cheers

Yep, me and a couple of mates went in October 19. We booked an apartment and the fishing separately. It was a good trip. Really tiring and a hell of a drive from Cornwall but definitely worth it. If you want convenience then I guess a guide & tackle and bait supplier would be handy but we preferred to do our own thing. Stunning place & excellent fishing. If you want more info, send me a PM & I'll let you know what I know.

That has been in place for some time, it was so when we were looking
at booking for oct 2019.
Not an issue, get on early in the year book the dates you want
then book travel/accommodation etc later.
Its a blessing as once you're there there is so little pressure and competition
for swims .
Amazing place /scenery/ and fishing

As you say amazing place and scenery, I was on holiday there a couple of years ago (but not a fishing trip), not a place I would enjoy fishing i.e. too many boats, holiday makers walking or being transported round the lake, lots of snags and to be honest the fish I saw caught were not very attractive. I did witness an Italian angler catch a carp of just under 60lbs but sad to say 1 of the ugliest fish I have ever seen in 60 years! Some very good restaurants and other activities adjacent to the lake. A great holiday location!

Odd! We had lots of stunning looking fish with the odd ‘character' thrown in. Yes, it's busy, as with most park lakes, never had a problem with boats or snags but I guess that all depends on where on the lake you're fishing? We had a few issues with some scuba divers but that was it really. Some great restaurants in the area as you say, the beer was also very good. I'm lucky enough to have visited the town as a tourist as well and there are some stunning walks in the vicinity. Personally, I thought it was a super place to fish!

Completely agree with what you said, me too was there only on holyday.

It should be a wonderful lake to fish if it wasn't a tourist orientated place... but, obviously bled is an easy lake to fish, where isn't really difficult to catch a big carp and a lot of anglers want to fish there.
Are you sure?
