Looking at getting some ‘mini' pit reels. Have 9ft xtractor rods that are brilliant but I matched them with Nash BP6 mini pits and they're dog s**t. Local tackle shop recommended the xtractor reels - I had a set of sonik reels and they were also garbage but that was a couple of years ago. Are the xtractor reels any better now? What else would people recommend id be looking max around £100 a reel.

I bought my son a set of 3 when they came out for less than £30 each. For that money, they're fine. I wouldn't pay much more than that though.

I have a daiwa gs3000 which I use as a floater reel so if the 4000 is anything like them I would highly recommend. Also watched a video the other day on the new crosscasts that are a sort of mini pit reel, I have the larger ones and also had the older ones and cannot fault those for the prices either.

Thanks guys, I've got shimano Ultegras on my 12fts and wouldn't change them for anything but want to use my 9fts more for stalking etc but few of the lakes I fish are deep and don't want to get stripped as I think that would happen on the BP6s.

Get the okumas like JC mentioned. I had 3 xtractor reels and like others have said they are cheap, like 30 quid is pushing it for a decent price on them. I changed over to the okumas and don't regret it one bit.

Think I'll take a look at the Okumas!
