Anybody have experience of either pod? and what the differences are between the two other than price?

Sorry can't comment on a comparison but will say I have owned a contact pod I bought second hand for about 3/4 years now.
Being truthful i use bank sticks for most of my fishing but on occasion when I need to use the pod I've been very pleased with it.
It's v light but very stable, particularly if you adjust the legs to a flatter setting and copes with rods and big pits comfortably.
If I was being picky then my only criticism would be I would like the central poles to be longer in length but that's just a personal preference.

Thanks blueboy, it seems like a very reasonable pod. Like you I favour bank sticks but need a pod for when the ground is too hard.

I've got the cocoon rod pod and really happy with it, it's sturdy and suits various situations.
I've had the fox horizon years ago and imo is similar options but seems better quality
