Been searching eBay for a set of daiwa longbeams, I had a set of st2000h but sold them a good few years ago and missed them ever since letting them go. Prices for them now seem to be double what I sold them for. Doh.
I'm just wondering what the st actually stood for, there seems to be a few different kinds, st, ss, gs and I've just seen a set that starts with pm.. does anyone know the difference between them all and what they stand for?

The pm and st are the same reels the pm /st has a plastic handle and plastic spool lip (pm for English market) st for Japanese market,all made in Japan,these were the entry level reels only one bearing if my memory serves me right, I have both the pm400h and pm 500 h models. The ss has a wooden handle and steel spool lip,Cant remember what letters mean but I'm sure someone on here does, pms ,st go for around £70-£90 each depending on condition etc,ss and gs a lot more.

Think theres been a few meanings depending where the range of reels were destined for
Tournie aimed/ Hi- spec ( SS ) style reels were SuperSport
Generally the letter at the end of the code referred to the gears
P = Power gear (low ratio)
H = High speed ( high speed)
XH = (Extra high speed)
but
a lot of the mid 90's Daiwa reels had 'T' which i believe referred to the then new twistbuster line roller

I've seen conflicting info about what parts fit these. Basically if I was to fit a click plate to these what Daiwa knobs would fit? Also if anyone knows what parts fit these from other reels that would be good. I have the GS2000H

click plate ? do you mean the click spring on the shaft?

The 2000h is the same size spools etc as the emblem 4500 as the 5000 spools fit the 3000H etc.
not sure of internals, i will have a look at body sizes later

No I mean the drag click plate. From what I've gathered you would need to get the weston spools to get the drag knob to click

the newer weston drag knobs have a projected spring to make the knob click when adjusting the drag
you have to be carefull on the dimensions of the drag knob as the heights can be different on the section that clamps on the spool washers

thanks Martin...they don't fit the long beams, only the western spools made for the long beams. surprised no one has made some click plates for the emblems that fit the original spools, along with knobs
i haven't used the reels yet might not even bother me that much :-)
