Evening, I'm moving to Lydney in January, and looking for a syndicate to join. Friends live in Barry, so anywhere between Lydney and Barry would be ideal. Suggestions and recommendations would be appreciated.

You have Windrush in Lydney to try and get on to start with. Also got Forest of Dean Angling Club with a few waters nice and local to you in Lydney. Newport you have The Birch which is very popular and did its 1st 40 this year. In Cardiff you have Lamby and The Wharf as options

I fished the Birch many years ago. It was a well run day ticket and night syndicate back then and would be an ideal location if your mates are in Barry. Used to be run by Martin if my memory serves me correctly, a little clicky but they soon warm to you if you keep your head down. Martin was always helpful.

There's no web site, if you use Facebook The Birch syndicate is on there. Also look for Probaits uk as it s Martins Bait so you will see many pics/vids of the Birch fish on there.

Birch is still run by Martin and there is a FB page but not a website. It is a lovely lake with some decent fish in, just can get very busy which it the only thing that has prevented me getting a ticket when been offered in the past. You can go to Peterstone day ticket lakes and have a chat with either Martin or probably Joe in the cabin to find out more info
