Anyone got any tips for zigs in winter, the lakes 4 acres with depth from 9ft to 3ft circa 100 fish. Not done much zig fishing before, foam is banned. Be good to get thoughts on areas and depths, appreciate there will be some trial and error

Middle third is where I would start - Top end of that third on a sunny clear day. Bottom if raining or windy.
definitely a trial and error job. And more of a wait and see for any shows etc.

I find zigs are most effective in winter on deeper, clear waters. You're saying depths of 3 to 9ft? That's very shallow, so presenting your zig isn't going to be difficult with such a small window like that! on such a shallow water, are you sure zigs is the right approach? They are not the be all and end all of winter fishing - I can think of several waters where guys fish them a lot, but catch very little. I'm not sure why people do that? Just plain thick is the only answer I have for it.
My winter tactics are basically to fish single high attract hook baits, then maggots, then tigers and zigs only on the right water. If you can't use foam (strange rule), then whittle down two pop ups into one bait - dark colour on top, light one underneath.

Black foam in clear waters is all you need,start 2/3s if it's a cold one middle depth is the one for me
