Evening all.

Does anyone know what f it's a good / bad idea to switch car insurance mud policy term? I can probably save about £60 per month by switching but I don't know if it's something that insurers get antsy about.

Will my no claims transfer as part Year or just be based on the full years I had at the start of the current policy?

Switch!

Like most industries they are trying to make a killing, couple, this with false claims and we, the consumer are paying the price

Check the sites, go compare etc. You may be surprised!

I once took one out around £440, when it came up for renewal with the SAME company it was nearly double!!!

Went on GoCompare £236, same amount of cover!!!

In summary, well worth a shop around Mal, you just need to check if you get everything you want, courtesy car etc etc

Check your T&Cs first Mal, some companies want stupid sums for leaving half way through, although a saving of £60pm would probably outway any leaving costs..........

You might have to buy your way out, check the small print Also call them and explain you never know what they might do to keep you as a customer

Every year i get a renewal and use go compare to get a quote as a new customer and go back to my insurer with the new quote if cheaper and they always beat it and knock a few quid off as well!

Don't ask don't get

Tell them your a key shirker hope your keeping well

I believe your no claims only works on completed years.

The last 3 policies on my wife's Corsa (no longer own it) charged £60 if you wanted to cancel mid-term plus a percentage of the outstanding amount for the annual total (usually the interest charge for monthly payments). This was with 3 different insurance companies. Not had the car for a couple of years now yet for some reason still get renewal notices every year from at least half a dozen insurance companies telling her the annual cost for the coming years premium (they have been told we no longer have the vehicle!)

That's correct. If you had 5 years at the start of the policy you are cancelling mid-term, you would still only have 5 years eligible for the new policy which would start again obviously.
