Got a tempest v1 brolly which I've used a fair bit but do find it low and a struggle with my avid benchmark x

I've had a tempest brolly mk1 and mk2 and now the Hide XL
The Hide XL is considerably taller and uses the footprint far more efficiently due to the flat back. You can push your bed chair right to the back therefore leaving loads of room at the front, considerably more than with the tempest.
Being 6'4” with a bad back and neck I definitely recommend the Hide XL over the tempest brolly for those reasons

I love my tempest brolly for days and use it all
Winter with an overwrap
But used a hide xl in the summer , the vents are a blessing
Roomy , well made etc
Slightly more difficult to erect though
I peg mine to allow my scope hold-all and Bromley bags etc to be stuffed
behind my bed
I don't think you can buy a basic tempest brolly anymore
as I'd like another , just in case as all the new stuff is getting too advanced 😂

had a tempest air and had same problems as you so i got the hide xl and its perfect so much better use of space as mentioned below also i can sit up straight the tempest crippled me.

I had the hide xl ended up selling it due to the quality, I had a poll snap on the first use so I bought the tempest 100t taller than a normal tempest brolly and has 2 big vents on the back mate, I'm 6ft 3 so wanted something taller

The benchmark x fits exactly along the back of the hide xl and the vents sit just where you want them.You can sit on a chair in front of your bed comfortably. The hide is a little bit more difficult to set up but should be no problem for a tall un.I've had no quality issues at all and would recommend both products

Hate the look of the Hide XL but the flat back and small footprint make it a brilliant shelter...

I don't no mate sorry the measurements are online if you have a look on the Trakker website, also there is a thread somewhere about the 100t on here and I'm sure someone on there had nash bedchair in the picture (not sure which one tho)

The 100T is big enough as the sides are taller but the advantage of the Hide XL is that you have the flat back so can push your bedchair right up giving acres of space at the front. The 100T is 25cm deeper than the Hide and you get that annoying triangle of space at the back of the Tempest and not in the Hide.
Personal choice really....Tempest looks better, footprint of the Hide XL is more practical...

In reality it takes it away 😂
I peg my xl so that it's not quite flat at the back to allow me to pack my hold-all etc in that space
It has a more rectangle back , so could be deemed more suitable to a bed being pushed fully back
In reality there isn't much difference

Ah but if you use a ruckall and other luggage that slides under your bed you don't need any space at the back!
Like I said, personal choice....Hide XL is more user friendly to me, more compact for tighter swims and if you configure things right, a better footprint internally....like you say though, not a great deal in it..

I'd have to slightly disagree I fish with a ruckall but fish from it instead of emptying it all in my bivvy, I actually like the little bit behind my bed chair in my tempest that way I can have stuff behind me that I don't use all the time but not putting it under my bed chair
I do agree tho mate it's down to personal choice most of all
