Has anyone had to sign on the dole ? I don't won't to do it. But looking like I'm going to have to do it. But I don't know where to start with it all. As I've never had to do it. Anyone no where to start with it all ?

All done online now via the Jobcentre Plus website. Unless you have a health related issue that makes you unable to work, you will need to fill out a claim for Universal Credit which will stop ALL non-disability benefits from the day you click the submit button (such as Working & Child Tax Credits). Average time for a claim to be processed is 5 weeks which means unless you can get an advance, you will be waiting that amount of time before you get your first payment (all benefits other than Child Benefit & PIP are all bundled together in one payment every 4 weeks instead of the old separate payments weekly, fortnightly or 4 weekly) which will be a combination of unemployment benefits, housing benefits, tax credits, etc.

Only been on the dole once , when i was 18 for around 6 months , soul destroying feeling of standing in that que to sign on ,waiting for your turn to be interrogated and trying not to snap at the degrading questions , anyone who wants to work and finds themselves in this situation has my complete sympathy !
