I'm in the process of getting my gear back together after a long lay off.

Decided on two sets of rods as I don't think one set can do everything really well, compromises will come somewhere.

I'm looking for suggestions for short range/small water rods. Ideally no more than £200 per rod and must have a great playing action.

Will still want to be able to cast small pva bags out with them but not looking for range above 60 ish yards as I will have a set of more powerful rods for that.

If you don't mind going down to a 10ft rod look at the TF Gear compact commercial 10ft 2.5lb rod cracking rod for the money joy to use at £39.99 each

Free spirit e class bank creeper, 10ft 2.5tc with emcast 25a's will do what you ask and get rods and reels for your budget.

I use the tfg compact carp 10ft 2.5lb rods, beautiful forgiving action but can still lob a solid bag 60 yards.

100% recommended by me.

I've got this setup but the su version of the creepers, absolute joy to use and can cast 85 yards with 15lb line on with good accuracy, brilliant setup and very light to carry.

Short range, 12ft e class gold 2.75.
Lovely action and within budget.

I have a set of torrix 2.5lb rods that are superb to play fish on can cast a baited rig 100 yards and PVA bags to 70-80 yards the action is a real joy with the ability to turn big fish.

I've had an accident with my 2.5 chimeras so am looking at the torrix in 2.25 or 2.5. How do you find the 2.5s with tiny leads (1-1.5 oz) and does the blank lock up?

For the top of your budget you can get harrison ballistas. The best players rod around by a mile, and will last you a lot longer than the mass produced stuff being mentioned
