Hi All

I found an oak tree today by the river and there were a few carp feeding under it. Does anyone know if carp eat acorns? I thought they were toxic.
If they do does anyone have any idea how to prepare them

Best

Toxic if enough are ingested & with carp only having a rudimentary gut it's possible that it may not affect them as it does humans !! Pigs like them 😉

I reckon they'd need to have been in the water for a few weeks to rinse out the tannic acid before they'd get stuck in, just as I've watched the ducks feeding on acorns.
I've never once seen the carp feeding with gusto under the oaks when the acorns are falling and actually think the carp avoid the areas.

I thought exactly the same thing last week, when I noticed my dog crunching Acorns.

Was very tempted to collect a few, soak them for a few days and then give them a boil as you would Tiger Nuts

A quick search online had several sites stating that acorns are poisonous to dogs and ingestion should be avoided if at all possible.

Would imagine it's something else that's got them interested under the tree not acorns.
Are you sure?
