I want a new camera. Sorry I know there's lots of old threads which I've read but thought I'd ask.
I've been fortunate to have the use of a Canon 70d during lockdown but my daughter is back at uni next week and wants it back
I have been spoilt using such a good camera as the photos I've been taking are fantastic compared to the G12 I was using before so I want to upgrade to something better but can't justify the cost of a 70d. Probably looking £200-£300.
I have minimum knowledge of photography and am happy using on fully automatic but would like to learn so something easy to use. Must be capable of producing good quality self take catch pictures as i always fish alone. It will predominantly only be used for this.

You would be able to pick up a canon 700d with that budget mate possibly even a 750d, both have fantastic flip round screens, work a treat with an intervalometer and second hand lenses are very common therefore pretty cheap. I'm an absolute beginner but my 700d has given me a really good platform to learn from. The only frustration i have with it is its scared of the dark and needs some form of lightning to help out the autofocus at night on self takes whereas my old panasonic would fire regardless without extra lighting, the canons onboard flash also packed up so i bought a speedlight 90ex but those issues aside the quality of my self takes particularly at night is far superior to my old panasonic g5

At night I'd suggest zone focusing. If you have a flash stop down to f/5.6-8 then focus where you'll be ish. The higher aperture should fix the issue.
If not a hot shoe mounted flash should have an infra red focuisng beam if I remember correctly, depending on the type.

Thank you mate i shall look into that, i don't think tje 90ex has infared, my neewer one does but thats even more temperamental lol

Check out mbp, you'll get more for your money buying used. If your set on canon get the 50 1.8 and then pick a body to suit your budget
Wex photo also do a good selection of used gear
