Hi all,

Back angling after a couple of years out due to work, doing a 5 day session next week, need some new reels. Don't fish often maybe 15 nights a year, mainly medium sized waters, casting probably a maximum of 100yards.

Not a massive budget as I don't get out on the bank much, maybe £100 - £150 a reel, any suggestions?

Cheers, do like the look of them and there meant to be bulletproof reels but seem to be sold out in both AD and TFT. Will keep my eyes peeled to see if any second hand pairs come up..

The emcast 25a do me for everything up to 100 yards with 0.35mm line... Very nice reels and can quick drag them easily if needed.

Shimano 1400xtd or the new speed masters in that price range, great line lay, good casting very smooth

been offered some Shimano XTD 5500's, just wondering if anyone knows if they will be too small for 12ft 3ib TC rods?

Would the rods be more suited to XTD 14000's? Also if anyone has used the 5500's and can let me know what you thought of them.

They will be ok but a little small for any long range work.. Shimano aren't what they used to be though...

They'll be fine, use them myself on 3.25lb rods .
