I am making a decision between customs or some free spirit Hi S and part of the process is to find a rod builder for the customs if that is the route I take. Cotswold rods are close enough for me to visit and also I can tie in the build with a trip I am having at Churn pool. So they seem to be a good option. I have done some research on other builders and have a couple of other options, but of course, I won't have the same ability to visit them.
My question is aimed at anyone who has had rods built by Cotswold rods. Are you happy with the quality of build? I have seen a few comments to about poor communication and lead times being outside that quoted, however, I have no rush for the rods and communication I hope can be resolved by the initial visit to them.
Any comments much appreciated....

They've built me two sets and refurbished one set. Quality top notch on all so would recommend without hesitation.

Not to do with custom builds, but their comms were excellent when I recently purchased some off the shelf rods

I've got a set of their R1FTs and currently having some R1's built.
The build quality is exception on my rods, never found communication a problem, and the lead times were accurate (in fact the R1FTs were quicker than stated).
Will also be sending some rods to be refurbished by them.
Obviously gets busy - quality kit in demand that is hand made (well finished but you know what I mean).
Would 100% recommend them.

I'm very happy with the rods they made me probably 3 years ago now. I had problems with the agreed turn around time and communications but very happy with the rods themselves.
Probably a bit far for you but I'm fishing in Cardiff on Saturday/Sunday if you wanted to see them.

I recently refurbed a set of my own rods. I bought a number of items from Tom at Cotswold in a couple of seperate orders.
Not only did he respond exceptionally quickly and post my items the same day, he noticed I had missed off three foam spacers for infront of the reel seats. They were sent free of charge with a little note.
I messaged him at various stages of the rebuild and he helped me in the right direction.
